Alford is in his second season as a member of the UNI coaching staff. Prior to joining the Panthers, he was a member of the coaching staff at the University of South Carolina Aiken the head coach at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois.
As an assistant coach at Division-II South Carolina Aiken from 2016-2017, the Pacers Women’s Soccer team combined to go 8-26-1. While coaching, seven team members achieved Peach Belt Conference All-Academic honors.
Alford guided the Parkland College Cobras to a 78-22-7 record and a top-15 national rankings in his last six seasons at the helm. Under his tutelage, Parkland College won back-to-back M-WAC Championships in 2014-15 while student-athletes garnered NJCAA first-team All-America and all-region honors. A two-time M-WAC Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2015, he also earned Region 24 Coach of the Year honors in 2011.
Alford’s student-athletes have gone on to play for Division I, II, III and NAIA squads, as well as making the professional ranks.
He was also the M-WAC Chair from 2014-16 and has developed and staffed soccer clinics for the Air Force since 2012. He served as an assistant for the Illinois Futbol Club in Urbana, Illinois.
Alford played for Olivet Nazarene and Parkland College. He spent 2003-05 with Parkland College, earning all-conference and all-region accolades while being tabbed an All-American Contender. From 2005-07 Alford attended Olivet Nazarene and picked up all-tournament team honors and was nominated for all-region first-team accolades. In 2010, Alford received the M-WAC first-team Player of the Decade.
Alford is a graduate of Eastern Illinois with a degree in general studies. He and his wife, Ricki, have a daughter, NicoElla (8) and two sons, Hawke (6) and Caspian (2).
